Took Angus for a lovely river walk yesterday (Titchfield Haven). However, when I was giving him a cuddle this morning I noticed a little lump above his right eye. Turns out it was a tick which he must have picked up for the long grass.

Managed to get the whole thing out with tweezers and now he has a bald red lump there. Should go down, but just wondered if anyone else's dog has picked them up in the past and was I right to use tweezers?

(None of my other dogs has ever had them). Thanks Rolling Eyes

My dogs have had them in the past, but don't tend to now as i use frontline for fleas, which also kills ticks, the most important thing with ticks is to make sure the head does not get left in, if you put vasaline around the head it sufficates them and they come out more easily with tweezers, or spray them with frontline. good luck!! Thanks Em! Managed to get the tick out - 'orrible little things. The bump is going down and his monobrow covers it up! Laughing

I use stronghold on my dogs once a month so was surprised to find one. The vaseline is a good tip. Is Frontline prescription only from the vets?
