hi everybody!!!
my name is Ania and my dearest furry baby is Mia
we live in Thurles in Ireland
Mia is 10 weeks now, born on 23rd of august '07, we got her when she was at tender 6 weeks of age! Shocked
i was a bit affraid if it wasn't too early as she might miss out on some important bits of puppy socialisation with her mum&littermates but luckily her (and our) older 6 months old siberian husky step brother called Woody got her somehow through it and so far Mia hasn't got any issues with being too mouthy or resistant to obedience phew!
actually she's so clever AND obedient that comparing to Woody and his selectiveness as to which command he'd like to listen to, i'm just delighted! Very Happy
already Mia knows sit, wait, kiss, down, in the crate, up on your chair, come and we're working on heeling so hopefully she wouldn't become a pulling on the lead monster Laughing
Mia is MY baby whereas Woody is my boyfriend's best kiddo, they have a connection on their wavelegth while me and Mia have ours and everyone is happy this way, although we both do love both of our furbutts Smile
i can't wait till she gets last shot so we could start propper walkies and to play more freely with Woody because at the moment he's way too big for her thus a bit dangerous but already they love to play together and if you'd like to see them in action please visit

hi Jerry!
sorry i've been absent for a good while Rolling Eyes
it's been very busy with other things at ours lately and i haven't been to the forum at all but as it comes to doggies they're doing great! Very Happy
Mia is growing as i call it 'stealthily' which means she just grows slowly but steadily, i just have a from a distance look from time to time and notice she's gotten bigger yet again, it's more visible when she's next to Woody as she's almost as tall as him now but i don't think she'll ever be as stocky as him and even better so as she's just gorgeous slim lady with no spare fat on her Smile
and she's just amazing with the way she's obedient!!
her recall is great and she knows quite a few tricks like 'roll over' 'tell me a secret' 'where's Mia?' 'say your prayers' 'in which hand' 'spin-spin' and to be honest at some point i had to invent some other stuff to teach her as she had it all in her dew claw Laughing
so we started to work on stand up from sitting, weaving between the legs and sit command from distance plus still polishing down command as it's still not instant with her
she's fabulous with things in the house doesn't destruct things at all which means it's ok to do housework around her as she likes to watch and sniff but not steal chew stuff or be in the way the way Woody is
sure she has a thing for shoes but doesn't destroy them only kind of chews but no harm done, (Woody's never had interest in footwear, he prefers to 'read' papers books leaflets etc Confused)
the only thing that is most difficult is when she sees another human being she just goes ballistic with the excitement and of course jumps up! Embarassed
i tackled the problem initially that i taught her to sit with someone approaching in vicinity make her wait and after the person has passed and she kept sitting i'd give her a treat, but if not asked to sit she goes up the poor human Crying or Very sad
and the thing is she gets her walk mostly in the early mornings with Woody when all the decent people are still in beds so there would be no other dogs cars etc because Woody is not realiable with distractions off the leash and he HAS to have his run otherwise his distructivness at home activates
so if i have time i take her on her own and we go 'to town' so she could get used to people being around, maybe in a few years she'll mellow down Laughing
as far as Woody goes he's gotten so much better as well it's unbelievable! Surprised
in early january we took him for neuter surgery and for a week he would hardly walk and he had that awful lampshade on and we felt so sorry for him he got constantly overshowered with our affection so much so that he's changed, i think he kind of opened up, got out of his shell and got to trust us more he calmed down as well (might be side effect of neutering as well) and he's easier with some things although some other slightly irritating habits remained and i guess they will till his last day Wink
anyway they are great together, they play, tear up things in the garden, run a lot and are quite inseperable unless Mia's tired of outdoors and she wants back inside on the couch next to me with electric blanket turned on Very Happy
oh and one more thing they're grand about is when any of us gets ready to leave the house they automatically go by themselves to the hallway where they have their respective spots and don't try to bolt through the door at all!
guess it's the routine thing that makes them do it, they know we'll be back and what's gonna happen after, wether it's walkies or feeding etc
so overall they turned out fantastic and my mischevious plan with labradoodle as a companion for a husky hasn't failed in one bit
Twisted Evil
and i'm sorry for blabbing so much but well Jerry you asked for it Razz
but seriously thank you very much for asking, i'm very touched you remembered about us!
ania and furry kids Very Happy
ps whenever i have new pics and time i upload them on flickr

LOL Jerry she's even bit bigger now but i haven't any updated pics to share yet
oh and yeah they DO love to play fight
Woody as a siberian husky plays by grabbing scruff of the neck or making a shoulder bump etc namely rough play but Mia being a gentle lady (when not pushed to the limit lol) doesn't see it as overly friendly and takes it a bit more seriously engaging fully into battle and she looks like she wins over him but still she's the one below Woody in a rank as she always gives him right of passage through the doors and hardly ever stands up to him eg to take anything from him and she always looks up to him and follows him around the house but whenever called by us humans she'd drop whatever she was doing Very Happy

Are Labradoodle becoming popular in Ireland as they are in the Uk?

to be honest i don't really know about that, still there are a few good breeders you can get labradoodles from if you look on the internet
when someone sees Mia on the walkies and they ask what she is and they hear mysterious 'labradoodle' the reaction is "oh a labrador!", no baffelment whatsoever or sometimes a bit of puzzelment on their face like "hmmm a labradoodle...what the heck!?"
so far only recently we met a lady who knew what a labradoodle was in a sort of "oh it's those dogs that are nonalergic" way and just today as i was waiting at the dentist (grhhh) to be seen an assisstant had the best idea of all the people i have encountered so far
so based on my personal experience i'd say that irish at present haven't got a clue about labradoodles LOL
