hi Jerry!
sorry i've been absent for a good while
it's been very busy with other things at ours lately and i haven't been to the forum at all but as it comes to doggies they're doing great!
Mia is growing as i call it 'stealthily' which means she just grows slowly but steadily, i just have a from a distance look from time to time and notice she's gotten bigger yet again, it's more visible when she's next to Woody as she's almost as tall as him now but i don't think she'll ever be as stocky as him and even better so as she's just gorgeous slim lady with no spare fat on her
and she's just amazing with the way she's obedient!!
her recall is great and she knows quite a few tricks like 'roll over' 'tell me a secret' 'where's Mia?' 'say your prayers' 'in which hand' 'spin-spin' and to be honest at some point i had to invent some other stuff to teach her as she had it all in her dew claw
so we started to work on stand up from sitting, weaving between the legs and sit command from distance plus still polishing down command as it's still not instant with her
she's fabulous with things in the house doesn't destruct things at all which means it's ok to do housework around her as she likes to watch and sniff but not steal chew stuff or be in the way the way Woody is
sure she has a thing for shoes but doesn't destroy them only kind of chews but no harm done, (Woody's never had interest in footwear, he prefers to 'read' papers books leaflets etc

)
the only thing that is most difficult is when she sees another human being she just goes ballistic with the excitement and of course jumps up!
i tackled the problem initially that i taught her to sit with someone approaching in vicinity make her wait and after the person has passed and she kept sitting i'd give her a treat, but if not asked to sit she goes up the poor human
and the thing is she gets her walk mostly in the early mornings with Woody when all the decent people are still in beds so there would be no other dogs cars etc because Woody is not realiable with distractions off the leash and he HAS to have his run otherwise his distructivness at home activates
so if i have time i take her on her own and we go 'to town' so she could get used to people being around, maybe in a few years she'll mellow down
as far as Woody goes he's gotten so much better as well it's unbelievable!
in early january we took him for neuter surgery and for a week he would hardly walk and he had that awful lampshade on and we felt so sorry for him he got constantly overshowered with our affection so much so that he's changed, i think he kind of opened up, got out of his shell and got to trust us more he calmed down as well (might be side effect of neutering as well) and he's easier with some things although some other slightly irritating habits remained and i guess they will till his last day
anyway they are great together, they play, tear up things in the garden, run a lot and are quite inseperable unless Mia's tired of outdoors and she wants back inside on the couch next to me with electric blanket turned on
oh and one more thing they're grand about is when any of us gets ready to leave the house they automatically go by themselves to the hallway where they have their respective spots and don't try to bolt through the door at all!
guess it's the routine thing that makes them do it, they know we'll be back and what's gonna happen after, wether it's walkies or feeding etc
so overall they turned out fantastic and my mischevious plan with labradoodle as a companion for a husky hasn't failed in one bit
and i'm sorry for blabbing so much but well Jerry you asked for it
but seriously thank you very much for asking, i'm very touched you remembered about us!
