I have my new labradoodle that I rescued from a shelter. As I posted earlier, she was mistreated.
She was dropped off at a kennel and was stuck there for 5 months.

We were keeping her in her crate at night but she kept going to the bathroom and laying in it. Now she is in her own bed and loves sleeping it next to my bed. The problem is that when I need to go out I put her in her crate otherwise she will be chewing on everything in site (we have 5 year old twins who have small toys).

Any suggestions on what to do when I leave the house? I can't blame her because she was taught that going to the bathroom in her crate was the right thing to do. The poor dog slept in it for 5 months!

When we first brought her home last week she was afraid of her own shadow, now she is having a ball! She loves running in the backyard and loves all the attention.

Poor little thing How old is she?

Maybe you need to contact a trainer for some advice. I am sure she will settle now she is in a stable home but it must be hard work.

Alfie was trained at 'Barking Mad' nr Stevenage and they always had a discussion group for problems. I sometimes call them if I need help even now the no is 01462 735500

If it's possible, limit her water for an hour before you go out.Take her out just before you leave and be sure to praise her when she goes.My dogs know that there are three "potty outs" each day in which they go directly to their potty spot and go.Then back inside. It is a routine they know will always happen.Get her on a potty schedule. That will help her. Each time you let her out of her crate take her directly outside to potty and never fail to do this.It will condition her to know when potty time is coming.Praise her wildly when her crate is dry.Put her favorite toys in there and give her a KONG to chew on.All of this will re-teach her to enjoy her crate time.No water while in the crate.

Hope it helps!
