Hi I am looking for a Stud for my 2nd Generation bitch but cannot find anyone who is unrelated. Jessie's father is Cosmo. Are there are proven studs out there not related to Cosmo? |

Hi Lesley, I have a 1st Gen male in Glasgow who is available. I can send you some pictures if you like. E-mail me and let me know. He has been hip-scored and he is NOT related to Cosmo.

Jackie at tora labradoodles is expecting 2 stud dogs to arrive into the U.K. in a few months time.
Or try Richard Smith in Newent Glos. he has an Australian stud dog.
The breeder you bought her from should also be able to help you to find a suitable stud dog. |

that are 'local'.
Sometimes the 'stud down the street', (although 'down the street' is relative! LOL) is that they are not always the best match for your girl, even if they are more convenient. It is a tough balancing act to juggle what would be a best match with how much trouble it is to find it!
The other thing is that if you are in an area where there are only a few studs, and it sounds like you may be, it is actually to your advantage to widen the search area. Within a few years ALL the lines in your area will have those studs in them, and it will be MUCH tougher to find good matches. This actually has a name in genetics, it's called "The Popular Stud Syndrome". There is an article about it here:

If you take the long view, importing lines that are not common to your area is a good investment.....and AI makes this possible! |
